CRIT
critter-inspired critical thinking for kids
Welcome to CRIT Kids
What is CRIT?
- CRIT’s mission is to get kids excited about civics and science, and inspire them to become thoughtful problem-solvers who can help make the world a better place!
- CRIT uses real-world “critter mysteries” and simulated trials where kids gather scientific evidence, apply the law, work as a team, and make persuasive arguments to solve the mystery and bring the wrongdoers to justice.
- CRIT is an academic enrichment activity for elementary school students that supports critical thinking and standards of learning.
- CRIT is challenging, hands-on, in-person, and fun!
What will CRIT kids do?
- Investigate a real-world environmental mystery
- Gather evidence at clue stations
- Analyze scientific data, create charts, use math
- Read legal documents and evaluate what laws were broken
- Act as a lawyer, judge, bailiff, or juror in a trial run by the students themselves
- Put the “suspects” (adult volunteers) on the stand
- Make arguments in court to prove guilt or innocence, and vote to reach a verdict
